  • *Saturday and Sunday featured verse on my calendar*

According to the dictionary, disciple means student of Jesus Christ; One who embraces and assists in spreading the teachings of another; An active adherent, as of a movement or philosophy. The twelve followers of Christ and the early Jewish Christians were the authentic Jesus' disciples who spread His teachings like wildfire that has reached us to this day. All of them, or at least most of them died because of their beliefs in Jesus teachings. They were truly saints who suffered and died for His cause. They no doubt believed His teachings and the way to salvation after His death, with all their hearts, minds, souls, and strength, because most of them were witnesses to His resurrection.

Today, Jesus' followers and believers are faith-based. His believers today were either born with Christian parents, so they've become Christians themselves, or they are born-again Christians from different religious denominations. Their belief system is the same based on what the Bible said, but what I believe the difference is the intensity of that belief. They all can back slide, still influenced by the world, as we are in the world. But there are certain believers who are very strong in their faith. They went through testing after testing and got out stronger. Their trials caused them more to believe how God is so good. They believe that not all sufferings come from God. They have learned not to question God, to let God be God and let God work out His plan for each and everyone of us. They have this undying hope and trust in God and look forward to the day when they will see Jesus and God. They have this tremendous love for God and His instructions and commands that they are not in doubt in exactly what God said. And when I researched the early Christians' characters and attitudes, these are the same ones that these strong Christians of today possessed.

More or less, Jesus based His teachings in these two commands. First is: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind.

and the second command is: "Love your neighbor as yourself."

In order to follow this second command, we have to develop that 'all your heart, soul, strength and mind' love for God. A sincere love towards Him. We cannot love someone when we do not know him. We cannot love someone when we do not know his nature, character and attitudes. Yes, in today's generation, they fall in love so easily even if they do not really know the person they are falling in love with. Most of the time, this has bad consequences. That's the reason why we need to know someone fully well before we would give our all to this other person. We will get hurt 100 percent if we don't. It will cause sorrow, misery, bitterness and all kinds of emotional upheavals in our life.

In the case of God, we need to do the same. We need to know Him. And the only way to know Him is through the pages of the Holy Bible and what it said about Him. It is only in this book that our true God is revealed to us. It is a long process of studying Him. Jesus revealed so much about God, but in order to understand what Jesus is saying about God, we have to start from the very beginning. That is the Old Testament. Here if we are sincere and eager to know who God really is, we will develop this desire to be after His own heart. God will slowly manifest in our life and we will see God's unconditional love, plan and purposes for our life. We will see the importance of loving someone else other than our self.

All of Jesus teachings will fall into place once we become on the same page with God. We will see the world in God's eyes, truly see it in His eyes. We will become conquerors for God. It will make sense why Jesus said that we must be born again. Through the Holy Spirit, God will be revealed to us. With our new attitude and our sincere desire to know God, the Holy Spirit will walk us through our Bible journey.

One thing sure in becoming a student of Jesus is, we are changed forever. An exciting journey if we could just stay on it and develop a strong resolve because the journey doesn't end here on earth. God through Jesus promises more unimaginable life that is incomparable to the life we lead as believers here on earth. As true believers, we already have the peace, joy, blessings, favors, protection, provisions and healing from God. What more when we see Him in heaven.

  • On my Calendar today is this verse. I am so fortunate that Jesus continually keep me in His mind and the believers that lived for Him. What's remarkable is His believers are assured that they will have a feast with Him in heaven. Jesus is preparing a place for them at His feast table. When I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior, He completely renewed my mind thru the Holy Spirit. After ten years of following Him, I still have this desire to let others know about Him. About the goodness He brings into my life. Jesus never cease to amaze me everyday. How He always makes my daily life new and worthwhile. I cannot remember a day that I am overcome by depression. He always have something new for me to look forward to. He always leads me everyday to be in a path that gives me hope and to always trust in God for His Plan for this world.

Jesus not only has given me salvation, but also has given me everything, every provision that I need in my life. Knowing and being loved by God thru Jesus has given me so much excitement to wake up everyday and look forward to what He has for me for the rest of the day. It's just an amazing feeling!pleased

  • (who is James? James is the half-brother, in earthly term,  of Jesus Christ. Mary eventually married Joseph and had children with him.)

When God desires to give us a gift, of whatever it is, it is always good and perfect. In other words, the gift is always to our best interest. The Bible said that God is unchanging. Whatever He had already declared, that's what He will do. Whatever promises He makes, He will do it. Many think that the Holy God of Israel, and the ONLY LIVING God, is very mysterious. He is not. He longs for us to know Him. He longs to have a personal relationship with us. How can we do this? By seeking Him. And you can only seek the One and True God through Jesus Christ. Jesus holds the key to knowing the True and Living God. Why? Because Jesus Christ is God Himself! God came down to earth that Christmas night in the form of a baby, born by a virgin- Mary; who was untouched and unblemished by a man when she gave birth to Jesus. The Bible said that nothing is impossible to God.

The Holy Bible said that God planned, from the time Adam and Eve disobeyed God and committed the first sin; to give us a perfect Gift- a Savior to us to save us from our self-centered selves and our sins. If God is not good and perfect, He will leave us to die in our sins and separated from Him in the after earth life. We would be in the most horrifying place of hell ruled by Satan-the one who now rules the earth. But God in His undying love for us and His Mercy has given us a way to salvation. In the Person of His Son, Jesus Christ.

Since our Perfect God does not change His ways and His Plan of salvation, the only way we will truly know the nature of God and be closer to the One who created us is welcoming Jesus Christ into our lives. Why? Jesus Christ has revealed who God really is and what He looks like. He reveals the True Nature of God. For me, I wanted to know who created this world and I wanted to know why He created me and what is His purposes in my life. And I'm glad I made that decision ten years ago to know Him fully well. I have discovered that there is more to life than meets the eye. Not as the world sees it, but as God sees the world. God has so many loving characteristics and a great role model to me that being influenced by Him, is the best thing that ever happened to my life.

And I have no one else that I owe this great change in my life but my Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ who is not a baby anymore, nor He is dead after He was crucified; He is my LIVING Lord who sits next to God and who with God governs Heaven, a perfect place for those that love God.

We can be joyful in any situation when God reigns in our lives!

  • Paul of Tarsus in the Bible said this statement. Analyzing it in our world today and any generation in the past, it's very true. We are all sinners. No one really is good. The proof is what plays in our minds daily. Listen to what you're thinking, and you will know that your minds are full of filth. Our carnal minds speak to us in so many ways. It points to the truth that we are so self absorbed about ourselves. We do things for our benefits, what is good for number one. You don't have to look so far-- just check out those reality shows, People Magazine, TV sitcoms and more - full of people craving to be famous at any expense. I can't blame God to think of us as falling short of His glory.

Sin is not acceptable to God. Sin is rampant in this world. We are all helpless in that regard. Sin makes us depressed. Sin makes us commit suicides, figuratively and literally. Sin makes us hungry for fame and wealth. Sin makes us desire for promiscuity and immorality. Sin makes us lust for power in every form. Sin makes us worry and feel worthless. Sin makes us angry and bitter. Sin makes us jealous; full of angst and full of rage. We don't have to commit murder or be an adulterer; just by what we do in our daily lives convict us on how sinful we really are. We all try to cover our sinful self by pretending that we are good in the eyes of others. But our character speaks volumes and our values are like rotten eggs. And what's worst, we think nothing of it. We admire people who have the worst values, just because they are famous.

Throughout the history of mankind, sin plays a major part in each individual who conquered for power. We are what we think and what we become.

Happy New Year! The first verse I've read on my new desk calendar for New Year's Day. God is so patient with us. He gives us many chances to know Him before we leave this earth. I heard today from Charles Stanley that God wants us to know Him. heart

May this be the year that you will cross path with Jesus Christ.

  • GodsWordlivingandactive Be wary of false preachers who smile a lot, dripping with practiced sincerity. Chances are they are out to rip you off some way or other. Don't be impressed with charisma; look for character. Who preachers are is the main thing, not what they say. A genuine leader will never exploit your emotions or your pocketbook. These diseased trees with their bad apples are going to be chopped down and burned.  Matthew 7:15 (The Message)

Last night, some things brought some confusion in my mind. I followed what I thought was from God. I believe in my heart that God has spoken to me to make a way for something that God would be glorified. Looking back the weeks after, God is not the one glorified; but instead it was the preacher more than God that got the accolades. During my moments with God, I've asked Him to help me come to peace and rest in His arms; as it troubled me that in my simple way; and obeying what I thought was God's instructions, that I walked blindly in believing that this up and coming pastor is really the real deal. He is someone that God appointed in this day and age to preach His Word through His Son, Jesus Christ.

I have some reservations the first time I've heard about this pastor. Some of his preachings were very uplifting, but there are things he would say that doesn't make sense in regards to the scriptures he would refer to. So when I've heard God said something about this person's preaching, who am I not to follow but just obey of what God wanted me to do, so I thought. Last night, some things came to light and what came to my mind is "beware of wolves in Sheep clothing." Was that from God? Was God trying to prove something? When all is said and done, my conclusion is always have reservations in these modern time preachers, using their charisma and their good looks to entice us to believe that they are really sent by God.

I know that as soon as I'm gone, vicious wolves are going to show up and rip into this flock, men from your very own ranks twisting words so as to seduce disciples into following them instead of Jesus. So stay awake and keep up your guard. Remember those three years I kept at it with you, never letting up, pouring my heart out with you, one after another. Acts 20:29 The Message

God has taught me a lesson here to always be leary of what a mere man acting as an apostle to God is saying. Be always on guard, always rely only in Him, to trust Him by relying only in His Word through the Holy Bible.

You're going to find that there will be times when people will have no stomach for solid teaching, but will fill up on spiritual junk food—catchy opinions that tickle their fancy. They'll turn their backs on truth and chase mirages. But you—keep your eye on what you're doing; accept the hard times along with the good; keep the Message alive; do a thorough job as God's servant. 2 Timothy 4:3-4 The Message

Knowing the correct password—saying 'Master, Master,' for instance— isn't going to get you anywhere with me. What is required is serious obedience—doing what my Father wills. I can see it now—at the Final Judgment thousands strutting up to me and saying, 'Master, we preached the Message, we bashed the demons, our God-sponsored projects had everyone talking.' And do you know what I am going to say? 'You missed the boat. All you did was use me to make yourselves important. You don't impress me one bit. You're out of here.'  Matthew 7:21-23 The Message

“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.  Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’  Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’ Matthew 7:21-23

This incident brought a clearer, more conscise picture in my heart. No preachers or workers for God should garner attention to themselves, gain popularity and wealth by peddling God's Word to innocent people. Anyone who is using Jesus to amass or profit or accumulate wealth is not of Jesus and God. They might have started with a right heart, but as soon as they reap insurmountable popularity and wealth, is a signal that they are missing the boat to heaven. Jesus considers them evildoers and not His followers.
